Imagine I will read this in 5 years(Part 1)

I am turning 30 years old by April this year.  This is an important age, which is called "而立之年", meaning "Year of Independence" in Chinese. I should set a few long term goals and do something beyond the current being. Time flies and life changes all of a sudden. I live all by myself since 18 years old. Then I met my wife and got married. A life with two people is quite complexed. We need to be more caring and thoughtful to think on the other's feet. Without a sign, my wife got pregnant, though our plan is to have it 6-9 months later. Now it's getting more challenging. The expectation of being a good husband is getting much higher, and I strongly find myself not doing good enough. I am quite careless. I forget things and am not very efficient/elegant. I sometimes do things twice, or even a few times to get it right. I do not know how to take care of people. I do not have the life experiences/common knowledge of what other people may need and how I could ...

On 2020

It was a tough year in 2019.  Lots of pains and quite a number of gains. I did see some good signs of improvements in Jan 2020, and I am expecting a much better year for 2020. Step 1:  List down the best things of the past year. 1. Fooyo won several awards for our tourism digitalization products, especially the products targetting Chinese outbound tourists in-destination experience enhancements  on the WeChat platform. We are on the right path to dig out the business models of making it a scalable B2B2C business/product. WeChat Developer Challenge  August 2019 @ Singapore  December 2019 @ Berlin, Germany We have successfully created several tourism digitalization solutions such as Mini Destination/Attraction, Mini Mall, and Mini Hotel, and we are now one of the first batch WeChat Certified Service Providers(5 global teams only outside China).  There are also other awards that help Fooyo expose our businesses in the global market. ...

2019 New Year Resolution

It was a fruitful year in 2018. I really feel thankful for what I and my team have achieved so far. However, the coming year of 2019 will be more challenging, I have already mentally prepared for it. Step 1:  List down the best things of the past year. 1. My wedding was blessed at the witness of parents from both sides. It was the most important event of the year. My wife successfully found a job and our family started to settle down here in Singapore. 2. Fooyo has some progresses in the China market. We exhibited in the Smart China Expo in Chongqing and we are setting up a JV with the Chongqing Tourism Investment Group. It'll likely be a tough journey ahead, we are gracious for what we have achieved so far.  3. Our apartment luckily went through the en-bloc process and my family received quite some investment returns. We bought another new property near the city center. It was lucky. Step 2:  Gracious about things which happened. 1. Thanks to all t...

2018 New Year Resolution

This year, let me try to draft the new year resolution based on the Willpower Instinct: Step 1:  List down the best things of the past year. 1. I proposed to my fiancee when she and her mum visited Singapore in July. We were then registered as officially married on her birthday on 28th Nov in Beijing. It was really the most important event of my life so far. After years' of long distance relationship, we finally made it. Though it will still take her another half year before coming to Singapore, we were both thankful that we really made it. 2. I bought my own apartment. It was a tough process to look for properties. I was so happy when I received the keys. Before that, I shared with my bedroom with my room mates for 3+ years. 3. Fooyo's sales was quite satisfying. We has two big customers, one in the Tourism Industry and another in the Logistics Industry. The products we produced were pretty pioneering and beneficial to the industry.  4. Fooyo suc...

On "Kitchen Nightmares"

This weekend, I watched a few cuts of TV programmes on Youtube. Listed as below: Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares Gordon Ramsay's on Bad Boy's Bakery Gordon Ramsay's escape to Thailand They are indeed quite inspiring. I didn't know these programmes until I saw someone shared the initial cut on the "5 dishes that Gordon Ramsay actually liked" on Facebook. The immediate question came into my mind: "Why he's so pissed off with someone else's kitchens?" Then I started to watch the other clips which tell the whole story. After watching a few clips, I started to realise his positive intention of helping those restaurant owners who are suffering in their F&B businesses find right ways to recover. The story normally starts with a failure restaurant. Then Gordon will taste their food, followed by investigating their operations. After identifying all the key issues, Gordon will give advises and transform the restaurant into...

Learning Public Speaking

In the past few weeks, I've been exploring the methodologies of public speaking that work for me. It takes a lot of trials and errors until I finally see some progresses. It would be good to share my thoughts and experiences so that people see my posts can have a more confident and effective start for public speaking. Firstly of all, you need to  overcome the fears to public speaking.   The common excuse I take is that I'm an introvert person. You have to be an extrovert person to master public speaking. However, that's not true. Public speaking is a skill, it can be trained and mastered. It may take some natural talents to be a super-influential speaker. But for a normal person to hit a point to deliver your messages clearly and powerfully, it's doable. One of the inspiring talks I heard from an introvert speaker is Susan Cain's "The Power of Introverts". Susan says that introverts sometimes can deliver deeper thoughts than the extroverts. Surp...
